UNFAIR
UnfairHurt surrounds me, a swarm of relentless bees,
Stinging, unyielding, each memory a fresh wound.
Shattered, I cling to a fraying thread of hope,
While you sailed through unscathed, untouched by the storm. Tears blur my vision, mascara streaks my cheeks
As I leave work, driving in silence, radio off,
My mind screams with echoes of your indifference,
A cacophony of what-ifs and whys. Each breath feels labored, a weight on my chest,
As if the air itself has turned to lead.
My days drag, drained by suppressed anger,
Hours stretch like shadows at dusk. You’re the opposite, untouched.
You move on effortlessly, from place to place,
Together with someone new, laughing, carefree.
Time for you is a fleeting breeze,
While for me, it’s a slow, grinding wheel. Memories of laughter and warmth, once soft,
Now feel like shards of glass, cutting deep.
I replay our moments, each one a fresh ache,
While you create new memories, oblivious to the wreckage. No tears, no remorse, no sense of loss
Touches your conscience.
You carry on as always, no justice for my broken heart—
My one heart, shattered into a thousand jagged pieces. Hope flickers like a dying flame, barely there,
Illuminating a path I can’t yet see.
While you stride confidently into tomorrow,
Your heart unscathed, your spirit unbroken. I am left to gather the fragments,
Piece by piece, with trembling hands,
Wondering if they’ll ever fit together again,
While you, without a backward glance,
Stinging, unyielding, each memory a fresh wound.
