STAR OF THE NORTH
STAR OF THE NORTH
Impatience and desperation clasp hands tight,
Submissive souls bend to urgent need's might.
Sorrow whispers as loneliness claims its throne,
I yield, letting fleeting sex speak alone. Don Quixote, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella fair,
Where have you vanished? I'm wed to despair—
To boredom's dull grip, to drugs' hazy lure,
And idle pursuits that offer no cure. Indifferent, adrift, dissatisfied I glide,
Smiling through scripts, though the path feels misguided.
Surely there's more than this kiss's hollow art,
Motions mechanical, feigning joy in the heart. Orion's belt, Big Dipper's gleam, North Star's light,
Carry my wishes into the endless night.
Beyond jagged peaks, through voids unseen and vast,
I hold faith: my true lover waits there at last.
