MAGNETIC

 MAGNETIC

It's not your fault I can never get you off my mind,

A thought that lingers like a shadow in the light,

But still, you're gonna have to pay for it,

For weaving through my days and haunting every night.

Because all I ever see is your smile,

A curve of warmth that bends the world I know,

And it’s obvious that this is beyond both of us,

A current pulling deep where neither can let go.  Because hearts

are magnets pulling us together,

An unseen force that hums beneath the skin,

And out of nowhere, our fingers turn to feathers,

Light as whispers, drifting where we’ve been.

And all that I want is so simple:

Just to see you when you wake up with no makeup,

Bare and soft, the truth of you unfurled,

And your sweatpants with your hair undone,

A quiet beauty that remakes my world.  So it’s not my fault that

you have the most endless eyes,

Twin oceans spilling depths I can’t unwind,

And I can’t help but fall into them,

A willing tumble where my heart’s resigned.

So I’m not gonna fight it this time,

No walls to raise, no shields to hold me in,

For every glance ignites a spark unclaimed,

And resistance fades where love begins.  Because it’s obvious

that this is beyond both of us,

A tide that rises past the lines we’ve drawn,

Because hearts are magnets pulling us together,

Relentless, steady, from dusk until the dawn.

And out of nowhere, our fingers turn to feathers,

Brushing soft against the weight of time,

And all that I want is so simple:

Just to see you when you wake up with no makeup,

Unadorned, yet perfect in your prime,

And your sweatpants with your hair undone,

A vision etched in every fleeting rhyme.  Don’t you run away

without me, dear,

Don’t leave me chasing echoes through the air,

Don’t you try to say it’s all in my head,

When every pulse confirms you’re truly there.

Because I don’t believe it, I don’t believe in… no, I don’t,

In doubts that try to dim what feels so real,

For this is more than dreams can dare to hold,

A truth my soul refuses to conceal.  It’s not your fault the stars align to frame you,

Each constellation spelling out your name,

Nor mine that every breeze carries your laughter,

A sound that sets my quiet heart aflame.

But still, we’re caught in something vast and wild,

A dance of fates we never could rehearse,

And it’s obvious that this is beyond both of us,

A pull as ancient as the universe.  Because hearts are magnets

pulling us together,

Defying space, defying all we’ve known,

And out of nowhere, our fingers turn to feathers,

A fleeting touch that claims me as your own.

And all that I want is so simple:

Just to see you when you wake up with no makeup,

Raw and radiant, beneath the morning’s glow,

And your sweatpants with your hair undone,

Where love resides in all I long to know.  So it’s not my fault your

 voice replays within me,

A melody that threads through every vein,

Nor yours that every silence holds your presence,

A comfort carved in joy and gentle pain.

I’m tethered to the thought of you beside me,

Through storms that rage and moments calm and still,

So I’m not gonna fight it this time,

Surrendering to what no strength can kill.  Because it’s obvious that this is beyond both of us,

A force that writes itself across the skies,

Because hearts are magnets pulling us together,

Unshaken by the questions or the whys.

And out of nowhere, our fingers turn to feathers,

A lightness born where heavy hearts once lay,

And all that I want is so simple:

Just to see you when you wake up with no makeup,

In the dawn’s embrace, come what may,

And your sweatpants with your hair undone,

A love that needs no mask to light my way.  Don’t you run away

without me, dear,

For half my soul would wander lost and bare,

Don’t you try to say it’s all in my head,

When every beat insists you’re everywhere.

Because I don’t believe it, I don’t believe in… no, I don’t,

In shadows cast to tear this bond apart,

For you’re the rhythm steadying my chaos,

The endless echo pulsing in my heart.  Because hearts are

magnets pulling us together,

Through every doubt, through every fleeting fear,

And out of nowhere, our fingers turn to feathers,

A tender sign that you are always near.

And all that I want is so simple:

Just to see you when you wake up with no makeup,

Unveiled, unscripted, pure as morning dew,

And your sweatpants with your hair undone,

The sweetest sight, my every dream of you.
