Unspoken Edges

Unspoken Edges
Time hangs heavy in the quiet room,
Where words dissolve like smoke in afternoon.
I search your eyes for what you won't confess,
A hidden script beneath the surface stress.
No letters, no excuses on the page,
Just echoes caught in every glance, every stage.
We dance around the edges, never near,
Pretending choice is freedom, masking fear.
I read the pauses where your heart should speak,
The way you turn when truth is at its peak.
Between the lines, our story writes itself—
A fragile hope placed high upon a shelf.
You choose the safe path, shadows over flame,
While I collect the pieces of your name.
Too late for courage, too soon for goodbye,
We linger in the gray, wondering why.
I tell myself the silence means it's fine,
But every unsaid word draws the dividing line.
No more pretending we can stay this way—
The truth bleeds through, and colors start to fray.
So let it break, let honesty unfold,
The hidden ink that turns the story cold.
Between the lines, we almost had it all—
But almost isn't love; it's just the fall.
