LET IT BE KNOWN

 LET IT BE KNOWN

I should have judged by deeds, not fleeting words,
That whispered promises like autumn leaves,
Scattered and lost in the wind's cruel herds.
She cast her fragrance over me, a balm of eve,
Her radiance like sunlight through the trees,
Warming the soil where my young heart believed.
But I fled from her grace, in fear's blind flight,
Too young to grasp love's intricate design,
Ignorant of the stars that guide the night.
I chased illusions, left her truth behind,
A boy adrift on waves of doubt and pride,
Unaware that such treasures are rare to find.
Words, those treacherous bridges over chasms deep,
Have ever been the root of our divide—
Misunderstandings sown where secrets sleep.
Sometimes they're uttered, then forever hide,
Withering unspoken in the soul's dark shade,
Like forgotten blooms on a hillside wide.
Yet when your sorrow finds its gentle rest,
Comforted by time's compassionate hand,
You'll cherish the moments we once possessed.
Content that our paths crossed in this vast land,
You'll see the gift in what we briefly shared—
A bond unbroken, though fate had other plans.
You will always be my friend, through storm and calm,
A harbor safe amid life's raging sea.
You'll yearn to laugh with me, to feel the balm
Of joy we kindled in simplicity.
Our echoes linger in the quiet air,
A melody of what was meant to be.
And when I leave you, parting like the dawn
From night's embrace, it may seem I suffer so—
Eyes dimmed with pain, a figure frail and drawn.
I'll look as if I'm dying, fading slow,
Yes, it is like that; appearances deceive.
But in that farewell, a deeper truth will grow.
For love endures beyond the veil of grief,
In deeds remembered, not in words alone.
Though youth misled me to this brief relief,
Her light remains, a seed forever sown.
And in the silence, where misunderstandings fade,
We'll meet again in dreams, no longer alone.
