 SUNSHINE HAS GONE

Unequipped, unarmed, my thoughts a fragile fleet,
Outnumbered by ghosts that haunt the mind’s retreat.
No map, no compass to outrun the past’s weight,
Your childish anger, a storm that won’t abate.
It rages unchecked, devoid of conscience or care,
A wildfire of words, leaving ashes everywhere.
My defenses, once frail, now learn to withstand,
Growing clever, reshaping like dunes of sand.
From liquid tears that spilled in quiet despair,
To solid indifference, a fortress built with care.
Each wound you carved, I’ve armored in silence,
A shield forged from pain, unyielding to violence.
Your apologies, once whispered, now rot in the air,
Rancid with time, their falseness laid bare.
No weight in your words, no truth to atone,
They crumble like leaves on a wind-swept stone.
Embraces, once warm, now fail to repair,
No bandage can bind what’s been broken beyond prayer.
You stand, unbowed, content in your reign,
Satisfied with the chaos you’ve left in your train.
No flicker of guilt, no shadow of shame,
No accountability claimed for the hurt you proclaim.
Your choices, a mirror, reflect only pride,
A heart that’s forgotten the tears others cried.
This solitude you’ve built, a kingdom of frost,
Its walls raised high at an uncounted cost.
No echo returns when you murmur “I’m sorry,”
Your voice lost in voids where no listener tarries.
The silence you hear is the one you’ve designed,
A cage of your making, where no peace you’ll find.
Yet I walk forward, through shadows you cast,
My steps growing steady, unburdened at last.
The past, though it lingers, no longer defines,
I’ve woven my strength from the threads of your lies.
In this quiet rebirth, I claim what is mine,
