IN THE HUSH

 IN THE HUSH

In the hush of evening, I pace alone,
Phone silent, yet I check, a habit grown,
Knowing it’s still, but hope won’t subside,
For your call, my heart’s tide.
Anticipation, a whisper on my skin,
A gentle rush, where dreams begin,
A tremor of longing, soft and keen,
Electric pulses in the space between.
I dial your number, a familiar rite,
Seeking your voice, my day’s highlight,
My fingers stumble, clumsy with need,
Crafting excuses, a tender creed.
You answer with laughter, warm and bright,
Flirtation’s spark, setting night alight,
A melody of joy, a welcomed sound,
In every chuckle, love is found.
Our words, a bridge across the miles,
Connecting hearts with tender smiles,
A dance of whispers, playful and free,
Binding your soul closer to me.
Despite the hours that weigh us down,
The endless tasks that make us frown,
The weight of days, the fleeting light,
The battles fought from morn till night,
You give your time, your love, your all,
A priceless gift, I cherish, recall.
Through exhaustion’s haze, you still extend,
The truest parts of you, my friend.
Over and over, you choose to be,
With me, in moments, wild and free,
A love that time cannot erase,
In your presence, I find my place.
Each second shared, a treasure rare,
A testament to love’s sweet care,
For in your voice, your laugh, your way,
I find my peace, my night, my day.
