LABRYINTH OF OUR DESIRES

 Labyrinth of Our Desires

In the labyrinth of our desires,

We wander, lost yet unafraid,

Each turn a choice, each step a fire,

In this maze that we have made.

I cannot name the path we tread,

Nor map its twisting, shadowed way,

But in this dance of heart and head,

Words falter, slip, and fade away.

If wisdom were my guide, I’d flee,

I’d hush each reckless, pounding beat,

But wisdom drowns in what I see,

In the rhythm of our feet.

This maze has no end in sight,

And soon they’ll come to comprehend,

Why we bend to passion’s might,

To the pull of heart and hand.

We’d better weave a tale to tell,

For all the joy we’ve dared to seize,

For they will come—oh, they will—

With judgment’s cold decrees.

This is my truth, my rawest core,

Stripped bare by light and gravity’s sway,

I’ll shed the mask I always wore,

And show you beauty’s wild display.

Now show me yours, your deepest hue,

Beyond the flesh, beyond the frame,

For in this storm, we’re born anew,

In the love we’ll never tame.

I won’t look away, I won’t retreat,

No compromise will bind my soul,

Let poets sing their measured beat,

While we defy the world’s control.

I tread with care, for I crave

What’s claimed by another’s vow,

I weigh my heart, both bold and grave,

To learn this game somehow.

I draw so near, as close as sin,

Yet hold my ground, refuse to fall,

I graze the edge, where we begin,

To feel the break, to hear the call.

They’ll rage at us, at you and me,

For every line we’ve overstepped,

But in this maze, our spirits free,

We weigh the loss, the gifts we’ve kept.

So let them roar, let them condemn,

Our choice, our love, our reckless art,

For in this maze, beyond their ken,

We’ve found the truth within our heart.
