CLOSE YOUR EYES

CLOSE YOUR EYES

Sleep tonight, and I’ll ride the moonbows

through this universe, tracing the night’s arc,

seeking the answers we crave,

there, among the oracle-wisdom

of the heavens and stars.

If you’re asking what I want,

specifically,

it’s you—

the one who reveals my sweetness,

who sees the raw-sushi honesty in my eyes.

This is a place I’ll always want to be,

a heaven, a town I’d pack up and move to

without a second thought.

Love, we know, isn’t a one-size-fits-all formula,

no manuals included, no guarantees.

We attempt to navigate obstacle courses,

standing on opposing sides,

problem-solving through the maze.

And yet, having slept in your grace,

beside you in exhaustion,

we wake to the alarm clock of your smile—

a reminder that you,

you can even put magic into mornings.

But love is not without its trials,

its moments of doubt and distance.

There are nights when the moon hides,

and the stars seem too far to reach,

when the answers we seek slip through our fingers

like grains of sand.

Still, I hold onto the memory of your touch,

the way your laughter fills the room,

the quiet comfort of your presence.

Even in the darkest hours,

I find solace in knowing

that you are the destination

I am always moving toward.

So sleep tonight, my love,

and know that while you dream,

I am out there, riding the moonbows,

gathering the wisdom of the universe,

so that when morning comes,
