BEANEATH THE VEIL

Beneath the Veil

You wear your shadows like a knight’s plated guise,

A fortress for your gaze, a shield for your eyes.

But if you dare to lower the walls you’ve built so high,

I’ll be the quiet dawn that meets your sky.

I’ll stand in stillness, soft as the morning air,

No need for promises—just the truth we share.

Our words have been a carousel, spinning fast and wild,

I laughed like a child, dizzy and beguiled.

But when the ride slowed, we stepped to solid ground,

Each of us searching for a steadier sound.

Now we nod like strangers, though our hearts once soared,

Afraid to admit what we both adored.

You are a locked gallery, your art unseen,

I am the visitor, tracing where you’ve been.

I’ve stared through the glass, but all I find

Is my own reflection, a ghost left behind.

I dream of a canvas where our colors blend,

A masterpiece of what could have been, my friend.

Let it stretch across the sky, vast and true,

A testament to the unspoken between me and you.

Your shadows linger still, a veil when we speak,

But after the laughter fades, when the night grows weak,

Let’s wander the quiet streets, no need for disguise,

Just two souls unmasked beneath the moon’s soft rise.

I’ll bring my open heart, you bring your unveiled face,

And we’ll find the courage to meet in that sacred space.
