A NIGHT MISALLIGNED
A Night Misaligned
In the theater of the absurd, we played our parts,
You, the reluctant lead, I, with hopeful hearts.
I reached for a kiss, but you turned away,
Leaving me with words I didn’t know how to say.
Your presence, a force, undeniable and strong,
In our farewell embrace, I felt where I belong.
Yet, the night closed with an awkward song,
A melody of what could have been, now gone.
I see myself, a figure out of time,
Chasing shadows, committing no crime,
But feeling the weight of an unseen line,
Between desire and what’s deemed fine.
You danced the flirt, a fleeting art,
All evening spinning threads to my heart,
But when the moment came to impart,
You stepped back, leaving me to depart.
Now, from a distance, you call my name,
But the game’s shifted, it’s not the same.
I’m not a prize in your youthful frame,
Nor a footnote in your book of fame.
With keys in hand, I seal this door,
Leaving behind what was, and nothing more.
A memory carved, a tale to explore,
