THEMES
THEMES
Pain and Regret
A shard of glass burrows deep within my chest,
Its edges glint red, slicing with every breath,
An ache like rusted nails clawing through my marrow,
A sleepless shadow, heavy as wet earth on a grave.
Love
Our love roared like a wildfire drunk on wind,
Flames licking the sky with greedy, crackling tongues,
It charred my dreams to brittle husks,
A wasteland of embers where once roses burned alive.
Addiction
I chased a phantom pool, rippling in the heat,
A siren’s croon, honeyed and warm against my ear,
But the water dissolved to sand in my throat,
A mocking echo fading into a parched, endless dusk.
Memories
Specters drift from the fog, eyes hollow as skulls,
Their whispers slither like frost over bare skin,
Each word a chain, dragging me through lost years,
A frigid wind howling tales of what might have been.
Setting
The bar looms dim, a cave of curling smoke,
Cigarette haze stings my eyes, thick as grief,
Ice rattles in glasses like bones in a crypt,
Voices hum low, a dirge swallowed by the gloom.
Hope
Yet a crack splits the iron shroud I wear,
A thread of gold spills in, warm as dawn’s first blush,
A murmur soft as lips brushing a scar,
Slices the dark, a fragile hymn rising from ash.
