THE WEIGHT OF. ARMOR
THE WEIGHT OF ARMOR
Simplicity is a distant shore,
When dreams of being other weigh you down,
And grace, a fleeting whisper,
Slips through the cracks of your fractured crown.
Have mercy on me, I plead,
Have mercy, for I’m on my knees,
Shattered once, then once again,
I’ll break until my heart learns to mend.
When you’re trapped in your own mind,
Waging wars with shadows, endless fights,
Trying to find a refuge,
But your armor’s weight drowns out the light.
Call for mercy, won’t you now,
Call for mercy, let your guard bow,
You’re breaking, piece by piece,
You’ll shatter until your soul finds peace.
So lean into the ache, embrace,
Cry until your walls give way,
Let the light seep through the breaks,
Drop your shield, let tremors stay.
And when you think you’ve lost it all,
Give mercy to a heart in need,
Give mercy, for life will call
Us to break, to bleed, to heal, to be.
Can’t you see, I’ve split apart,
Wide open, raw, and true,
Let yourself be torn, then start
To mend, to grow, to bloom anew.
