THE LAST PETAL

The Last Petal

The air feels thick, like time’s gone slack,

I’m drifting, lost, no way to track.

Don’t care, don’t mind, maybe that’s fine—

I’m numb, but the ache still holds the line.

You weren’t there, that day I broke,

I waited, hoping you’d revoke

The silence, but you never knew

That was the end, the last straw, too.

I sent you blooms, bright and rare,

Did you even care?

You left them wilting by the stair,

Like love, like me, left in despair.

Thought you had it all in hand,

But damn, I was wrong, you’re sinking sand.

You’re just a shadow, a lost cause,

Nothing like the dream I once applause.

You strut like an outlaw, wild and free,

But you’re jobless, adrift, no destiny.

I thought you were shy, a quiet flame,

But maybe you just played the game.

Selfish thoughts, your only guide,

I wished you mine, but that wish died.

Someone like you? Easy to find—

A dime a dozen, left behind.

No flowers from you, no tender care,

You’d vanish for hours, who knows where.

I hoped you’d grow, but you stayed small,

Proved me wrong, you’re nothing at all.

You’re just a shadow, a lost cause,

Nothing like the dream I once applause.

You strut like an outlaw, wild and free,

But you’re jobless, adrift, no destiny.
