LET IT REST

LET IT REST

You thought it’d be a velvet dream, didn’t you?

A carousel spinning laughter into gold,

confetti raining like promises kept.

But life’s a dice roll, darling,

and the house always wins.

Hold tight to what you’ve got

before the lights flicker out.

I wandered until the world went quiet,

no hum of voices, no crackle of lines—

just a tourniquet heart, bound too tight,

and a horizon swallowing time.

I gave it all up, left nothing but dust,

miles of silence stretching like a noose.

But it was never enough to drag me back.

Let it rest.

I’m hunting for a rope to tether my soul,

clutching the shards of us, of all this time,

praying for a diamond knife,

gleaming, merciless,

to slice through the knots that bind me.

Because it’s never enough to cut me free.

But what if the damage is carved in stone,

if the scars are maps with no way home?

Where do we turn when the road’s a ghost?

What if the damage is done,

and no one’s coming to pull you from the wreckage?

Let it rest.

I’m searching for a path to steady my feet,

clinging to the best of us, to the best of all this time.

It’ll come around, but time’s a thief,

and you’ll have to wait with this heart—

a broken clock, hands stuck at regret,

ticking in whispers, out of sync with the world.

Yes, you’ll wait with this heart,

a broken clock,
