WHERE RAINBOWS REST

WHERE RAINBOWS REST

Beneath a sky still bruised with gray,

Two hearts, aflame, begin their play.

Youth hums in veins, a reckless tune,

Love binds them tight beneath the moon.

The road ahead twists sharp and wild,

A speed bump jars each dreamer’s child.

Through muddy ruts and whispered fights,

They clasp their hands, they hold their lights.

A storm descends, the winds howl low,

Doubt creeps in like creeping snow.

Yet in her laugh, he finds the sun,

In his embrace, her fears undone.

A jagged turn—time steals their bloom,

Ambition frays their shared costume.

But roots dig deep, their love a thread,

Stitching dreams where tears once bled.

The years pile high, a weathered stack,

Each bump a bruise upon their back.

Still, side by side, they trudge, they mend,

A promise sworn to never bend.

At last, the clouds part wide, reveal

A prismed arc, a truth to feel.

The rainbow gleams, their prize, their shore,

Two souls who fought for something more.

Wrinkled hands now interlace,

Eyes reflect that youthful grace.

Beyond the bumps, the storms, the strife,

They’ve crossed to claim their colored life.
