WHEN AND HOW THE THUNDER ROLLS
WHEN AND HOW THE THUNDER ROLLS
I long to shimmer like dawn,
To stand bold against the squall,
If I ruled these sprawling streets,
I’d bend their chaos to my call.
If my spirit shook off fear,
I’d unleash the words I hoard,
Let them echo through the ether,
A truth the earth could not ignore.
With these trembling hands, I’d grasp
The shadows coiled deep within,
Shape them, twist them into light,
A freedom I’d unpin.
I crave a storm to bruise the heavens,
To shatter the dams I’ve built,
To rewrite the doubts that bind me,
To rinse away the guilt.
I need the tears to flood my vision,
To weep until time unwinds.
I yearn to summon the tempest’s roar,
Forge a soil reborn and raw,
Let the deluge crash,
Let the deluge scream,
Carve a land without a flaw,
Unleash the torrent tonight.
Dread clings like damp earth,
Safe against my chest it lies,
Yet a voice inside me thunders,
Release me, break these ties.
I’ve always sensed a vastness,
Beyond the tide that drags me down,
More than this sinking shell I’ve worn,
I need the storm to prove me sound.
I crave a storm to bruise the heavens,
To shatter the dams I’ve built,
To rewrite the doubts that bind me,
To rinse away the guilt.
I need the tears to flood my vision,
To weep until time unwinds.
I yearn to summon the tempest’s roar,
Forge a soil reborn and raw,
Let the deluge crash,
Let the deluge scream,
Carve a land without a flaw,
Unleash the torrent—
I yearn to summon the tempest’s roar,
Forge a soil reborn and raw,
Let the deluge crash,
Let the deluge scream,
Carve a land without a flaw,
Unleash the torrent—
I yearn to summon the tempest’s roar,
Forge a soil reborn and raw,
Let the deluge crash,
Let the deluge scream,
Carve a land without a flaw,
Unleash the torrent tonight.
