UNMEANT RUIN
Unmeant Ruin
I’ve strewn chaos,
not on purpose,
but I won’t dodge the blame.
I bolted,
mumbled a farewell,
too scared to face your voice—
it felt right then,
a snap decision
in the fog of a younger mind.
Even the sharpest
stumble into folly,
even the kindest
leave scars—
I’m no outlier,
no saint dodging the rule.
Resentment festers,
a slow burn under my skin,
stoked every time
your words find me now.
Rolling back alone,
tires humming after
those clipped doorstep talks,
I carry the echo
of what you laid bare—
I’m the sole name
etched in your hurt,
the one who cut deepest,
branded by that truth.
