"BONES"
"BONES"
I never thought I'd call this place my home,
This city's lights, this state's wide-open dome,
Moved from the small town, miles and miles away,
Now I'm here to stay, come what may.
Shattered dreams, like a ball through a windowpane,
Grief comes in forms that you can't quite explain,
Picking up the pieces, my heart's fragile core,
Building something stronger than before.
But it's a long road, paved with gravel and strain,
Selfish hearts bring their predictable pain,
Through the in-between, in this holding zone,
I'm reaching out for connection, never alone.
Progress is slow, like a tree's roots that spread,
Every step forward, another tear shed,
Always under construction, never quite complete,
Finding my way on these city streets.
In the heartache and triumph, I'll forge my own path,
Through the storms and the sunshine, the sorrow and laughs,
Re-assembling pieces, my spirit worn but strong,
Singing my own melody, life's ongoing song.
But it's a long road, paved with gravel and strain,
Selfish hearts bring their predictable pain,
Through the in-between, in this holding zone,
I'm reaching out for connection,
