"TOO TIRED"
"TOO TIRED"
Almost crashed in that driveway, each mornin' sleep-deprived,
Car like a spaceship, sky full of August stars, I'm alive.
Love, a dream, wash over me, no signs, no clear clues,
Blinded by her smile, ridin' highs, car windows down, catchin' views.
Couldn't someone, somewhere,
Throw a signal, a hint, a flare?
For Christ's sake, divine beat,
Save us from meltin' heat.
Roamin' charges, cloud 9, too far from home terrain,
Fingertips glidin' wind, feelin' that sweet disdain.
Sheets trapped passion, solid heat, changin' with a sigh,
Between our bodies, meltin', couldn't spot no signs in the sky.
Naïve bliss, conned by facade,
Blinded in love's promenade.
Heat fades, trapped in sheets,
History of us, bittersweet.
Altitude love, poor reception, signals lost in translation,
Stuck in this whirlpool, never thought of evaporation.
Darkened hue, every night turned mornin', new chapter birthed,
Growth in love’s shadow, each moment, felt its worth.
Couldn't someone, somewhere,
Throw a signal, a hint, a flare?
For Christ's sake, divine beat,
Save us from meltin' heat.
